U.S.A sanctions North Korea over Sony hacking

The United States has imposed fresh sanctions on North Korea in retribution for a cyber attack on Hollywood studio Sony Pictures blamed on Pyongyang. In an executive order on Friday, US President Barack Obama authorized the US Treasury to place on its blacklist three top North Korean intelligence and arms operations, as well as 10 government officials, most of them involved in Pyongyang's arms exports.

Fighting Pneumonia. With a $1.5 Million Grant, YSPH Scientist Seeks to Improve Vaccine Delivery in Developing World.           While considerable progress has been made in improving children’s health globally, pneumococcus remains a stubborn problem. The bacterium is a major cause of pneumonia, the world’s leading cause of respiratory deaths in children under age 5. The vast majority of those deaths occur in the developing world, where the vaccine is expensive, and has not been widely introduced.

Ancient, hydrogen-rich waters discovered deep underground at locations around the world. A quantum change in our understanding of how much of Earth’s crust may be habitable.           A team of scientists, led by the University of Toronto’s Barbara Sherwood Lollar, has mapped the location of hydrogen-rich waters found trapped kilometres beneath Earth’s surface in rock fractures in Canada, South Africa and Scandinavia.
