Diversity Awards Celebration

San Diego State University's annual Diversity Awards return on Wednesday, April 29 to celebrate the campus community's commitment to diversity, inclusion and social justice. The ceremony, which runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m., will take place in Montezuma Hall in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.

University of Guelph Marketing Team Places Fourth in North American Competition

A team of University of Guelph students recently won fourth place and the admiration of their competitors at a North American agricultural marketing contest in Kansas City, Mo. Ten students in agricultural business and science (all in U of G’s Ontario Agricultural College) placed fourth out of 28 teams at the National Agri-Marketing Association student marketing competition earlier this month. The Guelph team was also voted “most favourite team” by competing teams and won an Outstanding Chapter Award.

Volunteers needed for UNM’s graduation ceremonies

UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO - Do you want to volunteer and have some fun? Join the Office of the University Secretary in celebrating the class of 2015 and assist in one or both of the graduation ceremonies. There will be two graduation ceremonies; one for graduate (Master’s and Doctor’s) degrees and one for undergraduate (Associate’s and Bachelor’s) degrees. The Graduate Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 8,  6 p.m., while the Undergraduate Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 9, 9 a.m. Both ceremonies will be held in WisePies Arena, aka The Pit. 

Project explores the ‘marvelously diverse’ ways we speak English

YALE UNIVERSITY - “Here’s you a piece of pizza” may sound like an alien way of speaking to some — unless of course you’re one of the linguists working on the Yale Grammatical Diversity Project, in which case, it’s just one of the “fascinating” variations of the English language that they look forward to studying each and every day. The project, which is currently funded by a two-year National Science Foundation grant, explores the diversity found in varieties of English spoken in North America by documenting the subtle — but systematic — differences in syntax, the study of how phrases and sentences are put together.
