The DUT Arts and Design Faculty, in partnership with the University of KwaZulu-Natal, recently hosted a dialogue to highlight the importance of indigenous African languages in higher education institutions in driving the transformation agenda. Statistics have shown that many students drop out within their first year of study and those who remain are not able to finish their studies in minimum time due to socio-economical issues; the language barrier also being a prevalent obstacle.

Midlands State University: Taking the law out of the books

A team from Midlands State University is currently representing Zimbabwe in the 28th edition of the Jean-Pictet International Humanitarian Law Moot Competition taking place in Évian-les-Bains (France) and Geneva (Switzerland) until the 26th of March 2016. The team comprising Sandra Kabaya, Brian Madziva and Zwelithini Xaba is already in France for the competition.
