Following the rescheduling of the 2015 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission has once again extended the deadline for collection of Permanent Voter Cards by registered voters. The commission in a statement signed by its Secretary, Mrs. Augusta Ogakwu, said collection of the cards will continue for four more weeks until March 8th, 2015. INEC had on Saturday, February 7, 2015, rescheduled the 2015 general elections due to security challenges. The national elections (i.e. Presidential and National Assembly) have been rescheduled to hold on March 28, 2015 while the state elections (Governorship and State Assembly) will now hold on April 11th 2015. “The Commission hopes that this extension will finally avail every registered person yet to collect his/her PVC the opportunity to do so in readiness for the general elections,” Ogakw

The 4-foot-tall girl entered an Ohio courtroom on Monday, her legs shackled. Her family sobbed as she walked past. She was just 11 years old.   But the girl, who is not being named by PEOPLE, has been accused of a very adult crime: the beating death of a 2-month-old who her mother was babysitting. The incident took place in the town of Wickliffe, about 17 miles northeast of Cleveland.

Soccer fans clash with the police in Cairo; at least 19 dead

At least 19 people died Sunday when soccer fans clashed with police outside a stadium in Cairo, the health ministry said. Egypt's government-controlled Al-Ahram newspaper website reported that at least 30 people were killed.  The violence took place ahead of a scheduled match between Zamalek and ENPPI. US condemns postponement of Nigeria elections

The United States government has expressed ‘deep’ disappointment by the decision to postpone Nigeria’s presidential election, which had been scheduled for February 14. A statement by U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, shortly after the announcement of the poll shift by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, on Saturday, said political interference with INEC is unacceptable.
